A march was organised in the village of Til Qerah to mark the anniversary of the Turkish state attacks on Afrin.
Martyrs’ families from Afrin and Shehba led the march to condemn the attack by the Turkish state and its mercenary allies on the city of Afrin, a year ago.
Thousands joined the march in the village of Til Qerah in Shehba, carrying photographs of the martyrs of the Resistance of the Age.
The march started from the village square and continued right to the Martyrs’ Families Council building. Here, after a minute’s silence in the memory of the martyrs, Sureya Hebes, an executive of the Martyrs’ Families Council spoke.
Speaking on behalf of all families, Hebes said: “We reclaim the honour of our martyrs! It is thanks to the blood and resistance of our children that we are still resisting. Turkey has shown once again its immorality. It showed its weakness by attacking the graveyards of martyrs.”
Shehba Martyrs’ Families Council executive, Fatima Cemo said that the peoples in Northern and Eastern Syria stood united against the Turkish state. “When Turkey occupied our region it left behind no humanity. We don't want them in our territory. We are ready to stand against them, together with the people of Afrin, as we did when Shehba was occupied.”
Sheraz Hemo, co-chair of the Afrin Canton Council, said: “The resistance of our heroes in Afrin is still continuing. Turkey won’t be able to fulfil its dreams.”
Speaking on behalf of the Afrin Martyrs’ Families Council, Merwan Mihemed said that the Turkish state attacks aimed at hitting the principles of democratic nation and the brotherhood of the peoples and added: “We saw how they destroyed the holy places to eradicate the history of the region. Now they are carrying out demographic change policies. We never experienced what we lived during the 58 days of attacks on Afrin. Nobody should forget what happened.”
After the speeches the families of the martyrs of Afrin reiterated that the Resistance of the Age will continue until Afrin is liberated.
