The Afrin people living in Shehba also resist against the embargo imposed de facto by the Syrian regime. Refugees said that the Syrian regime imposed an embargo instead of helping them, and exposed the fact that prices have increased due to the embargo.
Benîn Henan, who works in a shop in the bazaar, told ANHA: "The price of the dollar has exceeded 1,200 Syrian liras. As a consequence activity in the market has stagnated. Prices increased exorbitantly due to the tax levied at regime checkpoints from products coming to the region. We have not been able to do business in the last two months due to the increase in prices."
Stating that they have difficulty in purchasing basic food products, Kifyet Mihemed said: "We are having all kinds of difficulties. We call out to the international opinion to break this embargo."
Ehmed Umer, another shopkeeper, said: "We support refugees who migrated from Afrin. We will stand by them even in war. We will continue to stand by them until the Turkish state leaves their land and they can return to their homes."
A woman called Meryem Xal, who migrated from Jindirês district of Afrin and moved to Shehba, said: "The bombardments carried out by the Turkish state and the embargo of the regime are no longer tolerable. Due to the embargo, we can't even buy milk for children. How long will this situation continue? We will resist until we go back home."
