Masses took to the streets in Amude in protest at the Turkish occupation of Afrin.
Thousands of residents gathered at the Martyr Cihad Square in Amude town of Qamishlo Canton and started a march at 11 am on Wednesday to protest against Turkish occupation.
Shopkeepers in the town took down the shutters and joined the march where intense security measures were taken by Internal Security Forces and HPC/HPC-Jin.
The mass staged the march with posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and of those who fell as martyrs in the resistance of Afrin, and behind a banner reading “Afrin is the fortress of resistance”.
The march was followed by a rally in front of Amude Youth Center.
Speaking to the crowd here, Amude Assembly Co-chair Abdullah İbrahim saluted the Resistance of the Age and the occupation of the Turkish state.
Remarking that the Turkish state now wants to withdraw its mercenaries in Idlib to Afrin, Ibrahim continued; “International forces maintain their silence in the face of these plans of Turkey. Humanity is dying amid the silence of these forces because of their interests. All states should manifest their attitude against what the Turkish state has been doing.”
