The people of Dêrik organized a march to protest the invading Turkish state that continues its attacks on North and East Syria and the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. Members of civil society institutions and assemblies, the Council of Martyrs' Families, political parties and the Kongra Star, as well as members of the Revolutionary Youth Movement and the Young Women's Union participated in the march.
The march that kicked off from Azadî Square was followed by a mass demonstration in the central marketplace. Binefş Ebdo from the Kongra Star Administration in Derik condemned the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and the increasingly ongoing attacks against the region.
Binefş Ebdo called on all segments of society to expand solidarity to stand against the genocidal plans directed against resisting peoples. She said: “We will not stop our struggle until we achieve the physical freedom of Öcalan and victory.”
Amudê
Kurds, the Arabs and Syriacs, as well as representatives of assemblies and institutions, joined a protest march in Amude on Monday.
In a speech during the rally in front of the People's Municipality, Qamishlo Canton Council Co-Chair Yusra Nayif praised Abdullah Öcalan's resistance in the Imrali prison and denounced the aggravated isolation he has been subjected to for years.
Yusra Nayif remarked that people are fighting the genocidal policies of the capitalist system with the consciousness they gained thanks to the ideas and philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan. Nayif said: “Thanks to the ideas of Öcalan, the people had a cause and achieved success. One of these achievements is the Autonomous Administration, which has taken serious steps in securing the rights of the people in the region.”
Nayif called for solidarity with Abdullah Öcalan and expansion of the struggle against isolation, genocide and torture.
