People of Derik protest against Turkish threats of invasion

Kongreya Star administrator Minewra Xalid called for increased struggle against the fascist Turkish government and its ally mercenaries.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Azadi Square in Derik city center and started a march in protest at the Turkish state’s threats of invasion against North-East Syria. The demonstration led by women was joined by members of Kongreya Star, political parties and civil society organizations in addition to residents.

A huge banner unfurled by demonstrators read "Protect Your Land and Honor, Defeat ISIS and Occupation", the motto under which women’s movement Kongreya Star launched an initiative on August 8 in response to Turkey’s threats to invade North and East Syria.

The march was followed by a rally at the Şehidan (Martyrs) Square. Speaking here, Kongreya Star administrator Minewra Xalid saluted the campaign and vowed that their actions would continue until the campaign achieved its goal.

Minewra Xalid drew attention to the Turkish state’s massacres against the peoples of North and East Syria, describing it as a continuation of the longstanding conspiracies implemented against the peoples of the region.

Xalid stressed that the Turkish state wanted to destroy the achievements made at the cost of martyrs, and called for increased struggle against the fascist Turkish government and its ally mercenaries.
