The people of Dêrik organized a march to protest the Turkish invasion attacks and their collaborators.
The people of Dêrik took to the streets today to protest against the Turkish invasion attacks on the Medya Defense Zones in northern Iraq and Rojava in northern Syria and the KDP's cooperation with the Turkish forces.
Gathering at the Freedom Square, residents of Dêrik, Koçerat and Berav, political parties and religious scholars condemned the attacks of the invading Turkish state which violate international laws and the international forces that remain silent in the face of deadly Turkish attacks. The crowd carried photos of the women and children who lost their lives as a result of Turkish attacks.
Dêrik District Council Co-Chair Mihemed Ebdurehîm delivered a speech in front of Dêrik Dicle Culture and Art Centre, saying, “We are going through a delicate period as the 100th anniversary of the Lausanne Treaty, which divided the region and deprived its people of their rights, approaches. Our will is under attack once again through a new plan today.”
Ebdurehim emphasized that people are aware of the plans of the enemy as colonial states try to drive benefits from the blood of the region’s people.
Dêrik District Council Co-Chair also condemned the partnership of the KDP with the Turkish state. “The betrayal of the KDP, which opened a corridor for the Turkish invaders to enter into the Medya Defence Zones, is now obvious.”
“The fascist Turkish state is maintaining itself by destroying the identity and history of the peoples and committing crimes,” he added.
Şadiye Yûsif, a member of the Kongra Star Derik Coordination, also condemned the KDP's support for the invading Turkish state's genocidal attacks against the people.
