People from the northern Syrian canton of Kobane called on the Russian forces to act to stop Turkish forces from targeting the people in the area.
Hundreds of residents of Kobane canton in the Euphrates region protested in front of the Russian base in the village of Sabt, south of the city, denouncing the Russian silence regarding the attacks and crimes of the Turkish occupation in the region, and demanded the Russian side to clarify its position towards it.
The protest came after the recent increase in Turkish attacks on northern and eastern Syria. The crowd raised pictures of the martyrs who were targeted by the Turkish occupation state's army, whether by drones, or by its indiscriminate bombing of citizens' homes.
After arriving at the Russian base in the village of Sabt, which is the largest base in the region, the protesters called on the Russian forces to act to stop Turkish aircraft from targeting citizens in the area.
Gathering in front of the base gate, the protesters formed a committee to deliver their demands to the leadership of the Russian base. The committee was made up of the Executive Council in the Euphrates region, Muhammad Shaheen, the co-chair of the Families Council in the Euphrates Region, Aisha Effendi, the co-chair of the Legislative Council in the Euphrates Region, Fawzia Abdi, and the co-chair of the County Council, Kobani Mustafa Ito.
According to the delegation that met with the base leadership in a two-hour meeting, Mustafa Ito explained to the protesters that they explained to the Russian forces what the region is going through in terms of "destabilizing security and stability due to Turkey's provocations aimed at intimidating the people."
Ito added: "We explained the extent of our people's annoyance with the Russian silence about what Turkey is doing, and the continuous Turkish threats and abuses, which have become an almost daily habit of targeting citizens with drones."
According to Ito, the Russian side assured them that they would convey the message of the people to the Russian officials at the Hmeimim base.
