People of Manbij share their feelings two years after the liberation of their city and the establishment of the democratic autonomous administration
Manbij was liberated by the Manbic Military Council on 12 August 2016.
Many activities have been organised to celebrate the anniversary and the people of Manbij talked to ANHA about their feelings and memories.
Mihemed El-Seto said: "We live in peace and security now. The people of Manbij must be united so that peace won’t get lost. The DAESH (ISIS) mercenaries had turned our city into a city of debris. Through unity and joint efforts though we are rebuilding it”.
Ehmed al-Mitleq said: "Manbij people live in peace and security, thanks to the Manbij Military Council fighters and the Internal Security Forces. We have been able to develop a lot in both the economic and cultural fields”.
Ehmed al-Xelef said: "Manbij experienced many dark days under the DAESH occupation. But after the liberation trust and peace have been rebuilt”.
Manbij region was liberated on 12 August 2016 and on 16 August the complete liberation of the city was announced. The announcement was made by the Manbij Civil Council.
The threats of attack by the Turkish state did not stop after the liberation, but life began again under the democratic autonomous administration system established with the direct participation of all the ethnic and religious communities present in the city.
The people of Manbij continue to ‘knit’ their lives in a communitarian way, building on the self-administration and self-defence systems.
