People of Kobanê's Sirîn town took to the streets to protest the invasion attacks of the Turkish state on Efrîn and Shehba region and to condemn the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan by the Turkish state.
Joined by members of civil society organisations and TEV-DEM (Movement for a Democratic Society), as well as administrators of Kobanê Canton Democratic Autonomy Coordination, hundreds of people from Sirînê gathered upon the initiative of TEV-DEM at the cross road of the town's municipality and marched towards the Martyr Square in Sirînê town center.
The people carried posters and banners reading "Efrîn you are not alone, Sirîn is with you", "Freedom for leader Apo”, "Long Live Efrîn's resistance" and chanted slogans in support of the resistance of Efrîn as they marched.
After the mass reached the center of the town, a minute of silence was held for the fallen.
Ebdilrehman Demir spoke on behalf of the TEV-DEM Assembly in Sirîn as a co-administrator and said: "We the people of Sirîn condemn the attacks of the Turkish state on Efrîn, the 'city of olives', and the region of Shehba. The Turkish state makes a great mistake because they will never be able to cross the soil of martyrs for even one inch."
Speaking after, Kobanê Canton Democratic Autonomy Coordination member Ehmed Şêxo saluted the demonstration, saying: "Firstly we want to salute the people of Sirîn for standing up to show support to Efrîn and to condemn the aggravated isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan."
Şêxo continued his speech by stressing that the hostile Turkish state intends to abolish the democratic system in the region.
Following his speech, a child named Dûha El-Îsa went out to the front and read aloud a poem dedicated to the resistance of Efrîn and the region of Shehba.
The demonstration ended with slogans in favour of the resistance of Efrîn Canton and of Öcalan in the Imrali prison.
