Masses from Kurdish, Arab and Syriac community took to the streets in Tirbespiye district of Qamishlo on Sunday to protest against the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
During the march through the district center, demonstrators displayed portraits of the Kurdish leader and banners that read “Öcalan’s freedom is the freedom of peoples” as they chanted slogans demanding an end to the isolation imposed on him by the Turkish state.
The crowd also protested the Turkish state’s genocidal attacks and invasion in Afrin, Serekaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad) and the local people.
The march was followed by a rally where women’s movement Kongreya Star executive Amed sileman spoke and said the following; “As the peoples in Tirbespiye, we condemn the invasion policy that targets the freedom of the peoples in the region. We as women and youth strongly condemn the isolation imposed on Leader Öcalan. The resistance of peoples continues in response to the policy of invasion that seeks to weaken the region’s folks. Resistance leads to freedom for peoples. We call on NGOs, human rights organisations and everyone who demands peace to support the region’s people against the invaders, and to take action in order for the isolation of Öcalan to be brought to an end.”
