PYD: 19 July Revolution defends the values of humanity

PYD stated that the 19th July Revolution is a revolution that defends the values of humanity and a safeguard for the resolution in Syria and all other parts of Kurdistan.

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a written statement on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Rojava Revolution wherein it called on all democratic forces in Syria and the world to oppose with a sense of responsibility all the actions targeting Syria, and to show their support for the Democratic Federal System.

The PYD statement said the following:

"The first spark of the 19 July Revolution ignited in Kobanê in 2012, and expanded later to Efrîn and Qamishlo. In this revolution historical steps towards freedom and democracy have been taken. And thanks to the concept of the Democratic Nation, this revolution became the carrier of the hopes of all the peoples of the Middle East and the guarantor of the resolution for the crises in Syria, Kurdistan and whole of the Middle East.

The forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), People's Defence Units (YPG) and Women's Defence Units (YPJ) are attaining great successes on a daily basis and freeing the areas of Northern Syria from terrorism. This became the reason for Turkey's aversion to the impending settlement of a democratic project, which led it to attack Efrîn and the Shehba region.

The 19 July Revolution is a revolution in defence of humanity's values and the safeguard for the resolution in Syria and all other parts of Kurdistan. It is the revolution of the free woman, the youth and the society of the Middle East based on coexistence and fraternity of all peoples. We salute the martyrs of the 19 July Revolution.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the 19 July Revolution we call upon all democratic forces in Syria and the entire world to act against the destructions caused to Syria with a sense of responsibility and also to show their support for the Democratic Project, which is the sole guarantor of the solution for the crisis in Syria."
