The PYD condemned the Turkish state's attacks on Çemçemal and Maxmur and called on the international community and the Iraqi government to fulfil their responsibilities.
The General Assembly of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a statement regarding the air attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state on the Rustem Cudi Refugee Camp (Maxmur) and Çemçemal.
The statement said: “The invading Turkish state continues its genocidal operations against the Kurdish people and the people of the region. It violates the sovereignty and borders of states once again. An armed drone attack was carried out against a civilian vehicle in Maxmur Camp in South Kurdistan. A bomb attack was also carried out in the village of Tuteqel in Çemçemal (province of Sulaymaniyah). In the attack, five citizens were killed and one citizen was injured.”
The statement added: “As the PYD, we would like to emphasize that the illegal attacks and racism of the fascist Turkish state against the people of the region and especially the Kurdish people have now become a real problem. The attacks carried out by the Turkish state have become a major obstacle to peace, security and stability among the peoples of the Middle East.”
The statement condemned the Turkish state's attacks on South Kurdistan and demanded the international community, human rights organizations and democratic institutions around the world to call for an end to the attacks. “The Iraqi government is called upon to fulfil its responsibilities as a sovereign state and not to remain silent in the face of the violations of Turkish fascism.”
