In its New Year greeting, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) wished that the Syrian civil war would end, and a democratic Syria would be built in 2022.
The General Assembly of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a New Year message on Friday, saying the following:
“To our people of North and East Syria, to our friends from all countries and regions of the world, to all who promote humanity and democracy:
We are entering an unusual year for our people and the region.
Despite all the challenges and obstacles, we have achieved a lot thanks to our martyrs and decent ideas. We tried to realize our future expectations together.
'WE WILL BUILD A COMMON AND DEMOCRATIC LIFE'
The main purpose in 2022 will be to ensure a common life in north-eastern Syria, and to maintain a democratic, fair and equal mode of rule inspired by our culture.
As the PYD General Assembly, we are aware that a significant commitment is needed to achieve our goals and that obstacles must be removed. We will stand firm against all kinds of threats and difficulties.
We believe that our people will achieve success and live in unity and solidarity with the peoples of Syria and the world in order to make the lands we live in a common country.
We would like to take this occasion to celebrate the New Year of the peoples of north-eastern Syria and Syria, and we hope that the year 2022 will be the year of ending the Syrian crisis, maintaining security and peace in the country and building a decentralized democratic Syria.”
