The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a statement marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Kobanê resistance.
The statement released on Sunday includes the following:
"On the first of November, peoples, movements, democratic political parties, writers and intellectuals, politicians, artists and parliamentarians showed their support for the resistance of Kobanê. Millions of the world's free people have expressed their support for their revolutionaries, People's Protection Units (YPG) and Women's Protection Units (YPJ).
Kobanê, which has become a symbol of the resistance in our time, and its fighters emphasized the realization of their slogan "either victory or victory", and an icon for freedom revolutionaries and a springboard for struggle and liberation against terrorism.
On this day, we remember our martyrs and wounded, our leaders, the heroes of freedom, who faced the black terrorism that threatened the whole world, and we salute the families of the martyrs who gave their lives so that our people could enjoy security, stability and peace.
Today, after eight years, Turkish occupation, its mercenary terrorist groups, and the nationalist takfiri groups that they claim to be opposition have not been able to accept to this day the defeat of the terrorist organization ISIS. After Syrian Democratic Forces and the international coalition managed to defeat ISIS, the Turkish occupation launched an attack on Afrin Canton in 2018, and then launched a new occupation operation on the areas of Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spî in 2019, months after the defeat of ISIS in its last stronghold on Syrian territory in Baghouz. Today, the Turkish occupation army launches daily hostile attacks on all the safe areas outside the control of its occupation, threatening to launch a new terrorist attack targeting Kobanê and other areas of NE Syria at a time when the international community and the guarantor countries are turning a blind eye to the crimes and grave violations committed by the occupation and its mercenary groups against the humanity and nature in the occupied territories, violating all international norms and laws.
Terrorism sponsored by the Turkish regime and other partner regimes does not only constitute a threat to NE Syria and the entire region, but also aims to blackmail the whole world. What happened in the occupied areas in northern Syria in the recent period is the result of agreements concluded between the Turkish regime and regimes that sponsor the chaos of terrorism that seeks to sacrifice the people of Syria.
We assure the international community and the peoples of the whole world that the Turkish occupation is trying today by various means to revive ISIS under different names, and that what happened eight years ago and before, will happen again in a more violent and bloody way. We reaffirm to the whole world that we are advocates of peace, revolutionaries of freedom, and the brotherhood of peoples, and our struggle seeks to build a free society in which justice and equality of rights and duties prevail without racial, religious or ethnic discrimination.
Therefore, we have chosen the third path since the beginning of the crisis in Syria. It is to confirm that we are the owners of a Syrian political project based on democratic principles, and we insist that our democratic revolutionary approach is the only way to save Syria and solve its crisis in accordance with international resolution 2254. We seek to participate in this struggle with all the democratic Syrian political forces in general to build a decentralized democratic political system in which the rights of all Syrian components and peoples are protected on the basis of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria project.
We in the General Council of PYD, while renewing our gratitude to all the peoples of the world who stood in solidarity with Kobanê and its heroes, call, once again, for their support for the Democratic Autonomous Administration and its peoples, which was founded thanks to the blood of the martyrs. This administration expresses the reality of the aspirations of Syrian components. We renew our pledge to raise the pace of our resistance in the face of terrorism and takfiri ideology that threatens all of humanity, and that our struggle will continue against the occupation and all its mercenary groups until the liberation of our occupied areas.”
