PYD: Turkey needs to be told to stop

The General Assembly of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) demanded that the Turkish state's crimes against the peoples of North and East Syria stop and the occupation ends.

In a written statement about the Turkish state's invasion attacks, the crimes it has committed in the areas it occupied, and the use of refugees to blackmail Europe, the PYD General Assembly said that "the Turkish state is the main actor of the crisis," referring to the nine-year war in Syria.

Turkey, said the statement, insists on implementing fascist policies in Syria. For this reason, it is taking action to pursue new occupation policies in the region while preventing a political solution.

Stating that the Ankara regime is trying to fulfill its aims in Syria with mercenaries such as ISIS and al-Nusra, the PYD added: "When this policy failed, it started to fight directly in the Syrian field with its army and high-tech weapons."

They slaughter people and force them to migrate

Emphasizing that the demographic structure in the occupied areas was changed, the PYD added: "The Turkish state has once again resorted to the 'safe zone' discourse by using the refugees as blackmail tool. With this policy, it aims to force those who do not want the Turkish state in their territory to face massacre or migrate, as they have previously done with Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and Armenians. On this basis, Turkey is trying to put peoples against each other. In addition, it has settled jihadist mercenary groups affiliated to it, especially from Central Asia, 30 kilometers from the border. Syrian migrants are used to blackmail Europe."

The PYD underlined that the Turkish state has implemented all its policies in the occupied areas with the support it received from international institutions and continued: "Turkey delivers the aid received from the international institutions to the people it places in the occupation areas. It establishes its own schools under the pretext of education and brings teachers to impose the Turkish language, culture and jihadist ideology. With this, Turkey aims to raise a jihadist generation and on this basis it plans to resurrect the Ottoman empire."

The crimes of the Turkish state should 'stop'

The statement ended with the following call: "As PYD General Assembly, we call on all of our people to be true to their culture. Be aware of the dirty policy of the Turkish state. We also call on all international organizations, human rights institutions and all democratic circles to stand by the peoples of North and East Syria. The crimes perpetrated by the Turkish state against the peoples of North and East Syria should stop. International laws consider these acts as crimes against humanity. The occupation must end as soon as possible."
