PYD urges the UN to stop Turkey that commits human rights violations

The Democratic Union Party asked the United Nations (UN) to end the Turkish state’s gross violations of human rights in Turkey and neighbouring states.

The General Assembly of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a written statement to mark 10 December, Human Rights Day.

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees the fundamental rights and freedoms of every individual regardless of their identity, gender, ethnic origin, religion or language. This declaration is an agreement between governments and citizens and ratified by almost all states,” the statement released by the party on Friday said.

'UN SHOULD REVIEW ITS FAILURES'

“Although 73 years have passed since the introduction of the declaration, human rights are still disregarded. The United Nations (UN) needs to reconsider its international accountability mechanism after its subsequent failures,” the statement said.

“The main reason for the failure of the United Nations stems from the Turkish state’s violations against the people of the region, the presence of terrorists, the occupation of neighbouring states, the inability to prevent demographic changes and its failure to stop the violations of human rights around the world. This shows that human rights laws have recorded a regression.

TURKISH CRIMES

The situation in the cities occupied by the invading Turkish state and its mercenaries is getting worse. There have been planned and systematic violations and human rights are in jeopardy. Furthermore, the Til Koçer Border Crossing is kept closed, depriving millions of people of humanitarian aid.

It is time for the United Nations to introduce active measures concerning the Syrian crisis by taking into account the will of the people and implementing Resolution 2254. The UN should also send a clear letter to the Turkish state regarding the violations of human rights in the country and neighboring states, and stop the Turkish regime.

Should the United Nations act within this framework, it can restore its mission credibility.”
