Raqqa Internal Security Forces announced at a press conference that 9 ISIS mercenaries and many weapons were seized in the operation.
Raqqa Internal Security Forces General Command held a press conference regarding the search operation in Raqqa.
Internal Security Forces Commander Ciwan Mihemed read the statement made in front of the Internal Security Forces building.
The statement said: "The ISIS secret cells are trying to gain strength from the attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state. ISIS cells carried out a suicide bomb attack on our center in Raqqa, which is close to the prison where ISIS mercenaries are held. Two of our members and 4 SDF fighters who responded to the attacks were killed.
As a result of the information obtained and the follow-up on suspects, our forces raided the houses of ISIS mercenaries hiding in Raqqa and its rural areas on Friday, 30 December. As a result of the operation, 9 members of an ISIS secret cell were caught and many weapons were confiscated.
The seized weapons are as follows:
2 Kalashnikovs
4 Kalashnikov clips
2 hunting rifles
Money belonging to ISIS
ISIS flag
Several cell phones"
The statement continued: "Our forces will continue to pursue and raid those who try to destroy the security of our people. We would like to thank the people of Raqqa for their great cooperation, their behavior in line with the curfew decision and the information they gave us about suspicious behavior.
As the Internal Security Forces, we promise once again that we will continue to follow the path of our martyrs until permanent security is established in all our regions."
