The Internal Security Forces announced that a unit conducting patrol duties in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton was attacked by cells affiliated with ISIS. While no casualties were reported in the incident, security measures were increased.
ISIS-affiliated cells continue their attacks and activities in Deir ez-Zor Canton.
In an official statement on Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces said, “Our teams were conducting patrols to ensure security and stability in the town of El Hisan, located in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, when they came under armed attack by mercenaries affiliated with ISIS.”
The statement said that troops in the area quickly moved in after the attack, adding, “Our forces started tracking the attackers after the attack and have stepped up security measures.”
