Raqqa Women's Administration and the Freedom for the Leader Committee set up a tent demanding the lifting of the isolation imposed on President Öcalan.
The action will last three days. On the first day many representatives of civil society organizations visited the tent. A press statement was made after a minute silence. The statement was read by Nesrîn Hesen from the Raqqa Women's Administration and demanded the lifting of the isolation imposed on Öcalan.
Hesen added: “Today, we have gathered here to express once again our demands that so disturb the states of the world. Abdullah Öcalan paid a huge price for all the peoples of the Middle East.
Şeza Mihemed, from Raqqa Civil Council, said: “The freedom of Leader Öcalan is our freedom. Leader Öcalan, whose efforts in the struggle for women's freedom cannot be forgotten, also played a major role in the fight against ISIS. We gathered here to demand freedom for Öcalan."
Speaking on behalf of the Martyrs' Families Assembly, Fatme Neisan said: "The fascist practices imposed to Öcalan are a shame for the entire humanity and for democracy.”
Finally, Huda Ehmed, a member of the Raqqa People's Assembly, emphasized that the isolation imposed on Leader Öcalan meant suppressing the people's demand for freedom and said: "Thanks to the philosophy of Leader Öcalan, we have reached the consciousness of a political free society."
The tent action will continue until Wednesday.
