Democratic Northern Syrian Federation Executive Council Co-chair Foza Yusuf, Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-chair İlham Ehmed and Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-chair Şahoz Hesen made significant statements on the Sochi meeting.
YUSUF: TURKEY TRIES TO GET A GREEN LIGHT TO ATTACK EFRÎN
Speaking to Medya News, Democratic Northern Syrian Federation Executive Council Co-chair Foza Yusuf called attention to the triple summit in Sochi, Russia and remarked that a new political process begins in Syria. She said it will become clear in the coming period which decisions have been made.
“They are trying to slur over the Syrian issue with some reforms and patchwork rather than a series of radical changes”, said Yusuf, remarking that it was sought to maintain the central government of Syria. She said this was the only point that Iran, Russia and Turkey agreed on.
Yusuf noted that Turkey tried to get a green light to attack Efrîn during these talks, adding; “However, I do not really think that they have reached an agreement with respect to Efrîn.”
According to Yusuf, bargain continues but the threat is huge. She continued;
“If this happens, there will be a declaration of war and Syria will enter a new phase. Turks want to make concessions on some other points just to attack Efrîn. Should Efrîn come under attack, the general stabilization of Syria will turn upside down and there will be a total change of situation. Everyone should do politics in consideration of this.”
EHMED: NOBODY CAN MAKE A DECISION ON SDF AREAS
Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-chair İlham Ehmed, who spoke to ANHA on the triple meeting between Russia, Turkey and Iran in Sochi, made the following comments;
“Nobody can make a decision regarding SDF areas. The rest is made up of areas under Turkey’s occupation. The agreement between Russia, Turkey and Iran is focused on these areas and this is why they call it a ‘political agreement’.
Referring to the Peoples’ Congress proposed by Russia, Ehmed said: “Peoples of Northern Syria have been invited to the Sochi Congress separately. Russia says the Autonomous Administration will also be invited. The invitation remains but there could be a change even at the last minute before the start of the National Dialogue Congress.”
Ehmed also mentioned the meeting in which Syrian groups dubbed the “opposition” have been gathered in Riyadh on November 22, saying the following;
“There is an effort to change the High Council but old mistakes are being repeated. The forces that are playing the most active role in the field and have a project, are not invited.”
Regarding a probable Turkish attack on Efrîn, Ehmed stated that: “Turkey wants to attack Efrîn and is ready to give up on everything else to this end. Turkey should consider the consequences of an attack on Efrîn very well. Should Turkey happen to attack Efrîn, it will surely suffer a heavy blow.”
HASAN: WE WILL ATTEND SOCHI
Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-chair Şahoz Hesen, who spoke to the Kurdish service of Voice of America, stated that they will be attending the Sochi talks. He said the United Nations should take a step in order for them to attend the Geneva talks.
PYD Co-chair said: “We have been invited to Sochi. As we stated clearly before, we will not attend Sochi as a party or individual. We will be present in Sochi as the autonomous administrations of Efrîn, Kobanê and Cizire.”
