Russian airstrikes target ISIS hideouts in Syria

20 Russian airstrikes hit ISIS hideouts in Al-Raqqah and Homs deserts amid escalation in ISIS activity, according to SOHR.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported ongoing Russian aerial bombardment on ISIS hideouts and hotbeds in the Syrian desert.

Accordingly, Russian fighter jets have carried out nearly 20 airstrikes during the past hours on Homs and Al-Raqqah deserts, bringing the number of airstrikes by Russian fighter jets on ISIS hideouts in the Syrian desert since early April 2022 to 490.

On April 24, SOHR reported that regime-backed militias brought in new military reinforcements to AlSukhnah desert in Homs province and Al-Rusafah desert in Al-Raqqah province in preparation for a new combing campaign in search of ISIS cells in the light of the ongoing activity of ISIS members in the desert and their successive attacks on regime forces and their proxies positions.
