Tensions in Idlib escalated between Turkey and Russia as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan prepares to meet in Sochi on 29 September. While Russian planes have been targeting Turkish-led mercenaries in Cebel Zawiya, southern Idlib and rural Latakia, they have also been carrying out air strikes on Sherewa, in Afrin, for 2 days.
Russian planes have been hitting Sherewa, which has been under the occupation of the Turkish state and SMO mercenaries since Saturday. Russia carried out 4-5 air raids on the village of Basilê.
The village was last hit by Russian planes at 6.30 this morning. In Basilê there are at least one Turkish state base and points belonging to mercenary groups, such as the Front Şamiye and Hamza Division.
Russian planes carried out two separate air strikes on the village of Bêradê in Sherewa at around 9:30 this morning. Like Basilê, this village has been under the occupation of the Turkish state and its mercenaries for 3 and a half years.
Local sources state that Russian planes targeted the points belonging to the mercenary groups, not the Turkish base, in the village of Basilê, and added that the Turkish state withdrew some of its soldiers from the village after the air strikes.
While there is no information about the result of the strikes in the villages of Basilê and Bêradê, it was reported that SMO mercenaries in these villages are in a state of alarm.
In addition, the villages of Basilê and Bêradê border the Autonomous Administration areas. Turkey had also moved some Hayat Tahrir Damascus (HTS) mercenaries to these regions a few months ago.
