SDF: Al-Shajil liberated, 21 ISIS members killed
During the past 24 hours in the Operation Cizire Storm, a village was liberated by SDF and 21 ISIS members were killed.
The Press Office of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement providing information about the last 24 hours of battle in the Operation Cizire Storm, the last phase of which -dubbed “Campaign Defeat Terrorism”- was launched on September 11 to the east of the Euphrates.
According to the statement, SDF forces made further advances and took control of more points on Al-Bagouz front. ISIS mercenaries attacked these positions, facing retaliation from SDF, which resulted in clashes. Some mercenaries were killed in the fighting here.
While ISIS mercenaries attacked SDF positions with mortar fire, SDF units seized a large quantity of ammunition belonging to mercenaries during sweeping operations.
During clashes Monday evening, SDF fighters advanced 800 meters and got more points under their control. The mercenaries’ attempts to attack the SDF positions were averted. Several ISIS members were killed during ensuing clashes, two bomb-laden vehicles and a tunnel of the mercenaries were destroyed.
In the same area, SDF forces made an advance of 600 meters and seized arms belonging to mercenaries.
Following fierce clashes Tuesday morning, SDF forces liberated the village of Al-Shajil where many ISIS members were killed and a large quantity of ammunition belonging to the gangs was confiscated. Special units launched sweeping operations in the village shortly after its liberation, defusing a large number of mines.
On Hajin front, ISIS mercenaries launched an intensive attack on SDF forces, resulting in clashes in which heavy weaponry was used and SDF harshly responded to the attacks. The fighting continued into the morning hours when more mercenaries were killed. International coalition aircraft hit the positions of the mercenaries.
SDF announced the following figures from the past 24 hours of battle:
7 airstrikes were carried out
19 points were taken under control
21 ISIS members were killed
One tunnel and two bomb-laden vehicles of the mercenaries were destroyed
Six SDF fighters were martyred
8 SDF fighters were wounded.
