The SDF Press Center announced the capture of Mihemed Ehmed Kerez, the ISIS mercenary tasked with distributing the organisation’s financial resources to the cells.
The statement made by the SDF Press Liaison Center said that "special units of the Syrian Democratic Forces arrested the ISIS mercenary responsible for distributing aid and financing the cells in Northern and Eastern Syria.
The captured mercenary is called Mihemed Ehmed Kerez and has admitted that he delivered the aid he received from Turkey and Idlib in northwest Syria to ISIS cells.
Mihemed Ehmed Kerez also sent money to the families of mercenaries in Hol Camp."
The statement continued: "Bab-born Kerez settled in Raqqa. He has admitted that he set up a cell in the city of Raqqa that blackmailed traders and took money from traders under the name of zakat. Kerez noted that he distributed the money he received to ISIS cells.
While trying to detonate a mine in front of a workplace, Kerez was captured and neutralized in an operation carried out by the SDF special forces.
Kerez said that he delivered aid from the Turkish state and Idlib to various ISIS cells in Hol Camp and the region.
Terrorist Mihemed Kerez also confessed the name of another terrorist, İbrahim, who is linked to the cells that finance ISIS. The job of this group is to blackmail traders and pressure them to pay them."
