As part of his ongoing efforts to assess the region’s situation and address community concerns, the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, and the YPJ Commander, Rojhat Afrin, held separate meetings with Kurdish notables, tribal elders, intellectuals, and cultural elites in Rojava and North and Eastern Syria. Representatives from Kobani, Shehba, Aleppo, Amude, Hasakah, Sarrin, and Derbassiye participated.
The Kurdish representatives discussed important issues with the General Command, including the overall Syrian situation and specific challenges facing Rojava and North and Eastern Syria. The meeting focused on recent military and political developments, as well as service and social concerns affecting the region’s people.
Participants emphasized the importance of these meetings for fostering communication and cooperation between the leadership and local communities. The General Command listened carefully to the attendees’ demands and committed to addressing them through relevant authorities.
Representatives from Shehba and Afrin expressed their desire to return home and called for improved conditions for the forcibly displaced people, particularly in Shahba and Aleppo. The participants welcomed the recently issued general amnesty decree as a step towards civil peace and national cohesion while advocating for a broader political amnesty to consolidate stability and reconciliation.
A key topic of discussion was supporting Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue among various Kurdish parties to preserve unity and stability in Rojava and North and Eastern Syria. Participants stressed the importance of dialogue with all parties to develop the Autonomous Administration and enhance the living conditions of residents.
SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi assured attendees that the General Command would diligently convey and address their demands. He emphasized the importance of maintaining security and stability through effective military measures.
Abdi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all representatives and components of society for their continued support for the SDF, urging them to attach great importance to encouraging young people to join the ranks of the military forces to protect their land and rights, and defend them against all threats.
At the end of the meeting, SDF General Command also commended the role of tribal elders and Kurdish cultural elites in fostering communication, stressing that these meetings will continue in the future to ensure the achievement and preservation of the interests of all the people of the region.
