SDF Commanders visit Deir ez-Zor

After the frequent attacks on well-known personalities in Deir ez-Zor, SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazlum Abdi visited the East Syrian region to get a personal impression of the situation.

SDF Commander General Mazlum Abdi visited the East Syrian region of Deir ez-Zor for talks with representatives of the Civil and Military Council, said the press office of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Abdi was accompanied by SDF commander Newroz Ehmed and representatives of the internal security forces.

The two-day visit was prompted by the recent attacks on tribal elders and prominent figures in Deir ez-Zor, behind which are ISIS cells and groups controlled by regional and global powers. The SDF Commander wanted to get a personal impression of the situation and exchange views with local representatives about the current situation. The talks also focused on public services and job opportunities for the population of the region.

During the talks Mazlum Abdi pointed out that the attacks were intended to destroy the security of the region. he said attempts were being made to stir up conflicts between population groups that had previously lived together peacefully.

Remarking that the SDF are determined to continue the fight against the ISIS and to oppose the attempts of the Syrian government to split the country, Abdi said that the Civil Council of Deir ez-Zor must immediately make its services available to the entire population.

The SDF commander called on the international anti-ISIS coalition to live up to its responsibilities in the region and to exert pressure on all sides for a political solution.
