The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Military Council convened its regular and expanded meeting attended by SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi, members of SDF General Command, leaders from the SDF’s military councils and regions, and SDF official institutions.
The meeting initiated with a comprehensive assessment of political landscape in Syria in general, and North-East Syria Region in particular. The meeting stressed the need to follow a practical, creative and open policy towards all issues, and continuous readiness for any developments.
In light of this, the meeting urged the Syria Democratic Council to develop a Syrian-led political solution.
The meeting condemned the ongoing Turkish aggression on northern and eastern Syria and reiterated efforts to garner international support to put an end to these attacks.
The meeting emphasized the need to reinvigorate Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue in the near future.
The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of the SDF’s internal and organizational structure. At the internal level, it commended the forces’ cooperation with the international coalition in the fight against ISIS, and the joint daily work on managing ISIS detainees and addressing the challenges posed by the Al-Hol camp. Significant progress in these areas was acknowledged.
Regarding the Self-defense duty, the meeting discussed implementing a general amnesty for deserters, resolving issues related to defaulters and personnel moved to other military sections, and establishing a committee to oversee these processes.
On the organizational front, the meeting approved extending military contracts to three years and expanding training programs, with a focus on new recruits.
The meeting addressed several military issues. It acknowledged an increase in ISIS activity and reaffirmed the military’s authority to conduct operations to prevent the ISIS resurgence. Recent anti-ISIS operations were commended, and their expansion was encouraged.
The meeting also commended the SDF’s success in thwarting the attempted infiltrations by the Turkish-backed mercenaries in Manbij and Zarkan, emphasizing the need for a strong response to future Turkish aggressions.
Finally, the meeting congratulated the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) on their Fourth Conference, applauding their decisions and the establishment of a military command.
