SDF announced the names of eight fighters who were martyred during the “Hammer of peoples” operation and in other regions.
The Media Centre of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has published the names of eight fighters who died after the Turkish-backed ISIS attack on a prison in Hesekê on January 20.
The SDF statement published on Saturday includes the following:
“Based on the facts and documents our forces confiscated from mercenaries arrested during the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist attack on the al-Hasaka prison on January 20, it was confirmed that the Turkish occupation state had planned the attack months ago. In conjunction with that attack, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries launched -and are still launching- ground and air attacks on several areas such as Ain Issa, Zarkan, Derik, and Darbasiya, attempting to occupy new regions in northern and eastern Syria.
The resistance our fighters put up in the operation of “Hammer of peoples” launched by SDF against the Daesh mercenaries has thwarted the attack, clearing the neighborhoods and areas to which they had infiltrated, in addition to addressing and thwarting the infiltration attempts of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in our forces’ positions.
All those desperate attempts have been crashed on the rock of our fighters’ heroic resistance that has culminated in victory, where our fighters showed the highest signs of redemption and sacrifice, and some of them reached the rank of martyrdom.
The extension of the “Hammer of Peoples” operation to Raqqa, Shadadi, and Deir ez-Zor is to eliminate the Turkish-backed active sleeper cells of the terrorist organization, that is trying to revive itself to commit further massacres against civilians, target civilian and military institutions, and undermine the security and stability of the region. However, the resistance of our fighters, on various fronts and grounds, has thwarted the plans of the Daesh terrorist organization and its supporters, arresting dozens of them in several areas.
Due to the support of our people and their rally around our forces and by our martyrs’ sacrifices, victory has been achieved over terrorism and their dreams and aspirations of spreading darkness have vanished with the blood and sacrifices of our martyrs.
In the “Hammer of peoples” operation, our forces provided their finest fighters as martyrs to preserve the gains of the Revolution of Rojava and north and eastern Syria made with sweat and blood.
Today, we announce to our people the names of a group of eight fighters who were martyred during the “Hammer of peoples” operation and in other regions, after fighting with unparalleled valor against mercenaries and proving their commitment to the values of the revolution and martyrs. We reiterate our promise to them and all our martyrs by continuing their path and steps until victory, freedom, and the liberation of our occupied areas. We offer our condolences to the families of our martyrs and all our people, and we promise to be faithful to their blood and to continue our struggle to fulfill the wishes and objectives for which they were martyred.”
