SDF pushes back gang attack on Iraqi border

ISIS gangs attacked after Syrian Democratic Forces took control of an important bridge near the Iraqi border. The attack was pushed back, and 6 gang members were killed.
Intense clashes broke out between SDF fighters and ISIS gangs in the Upper Baghouz village, 6 km to the Iraqi border. SDF fighers took control of the bridge that connects the village to Al Buqamal town.
SDF Press Center announced that the gangs attacked again after the bridge was cleared.
The Press Center statement said SDF fighters pushed back the gang attack and killed 6 gang members.
The final phase of the Operation Cizire Storm was launched on September 11 by the SDF. The operation targets the Hajin district of Deir ez-Zor, near the Iraqi border. The region is significant as it is the last large settlement still under ISIS occupation to the east of the Euphrates River.
