The Syrian Democratic Forces drew attention to the fact that some of the people who took part in the fuel protests in Shaddadi were armed and called on the people not to fell into provocations.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Contact Center issued a statement regarding the protests over the increase in fuel prices in Northern and Eastern Syria.
The statement said: “We have carefully followed the events that took place on Tuesday in Shaddadi city and other areas within the Autonomous Administration areas of North and Eastern Syria. We want to tell our people and the public opinion our stance regarding these protests. We emphasize that the service and civil authorities in the Autonomous Administration not the SDF, are concerned about all issues related to the demands and protests of citizens related to the rise in fuel prices.
Our forces are responsible for protecting the region, and for many years they have been doing their job in maintaining security and stability and have fought a fierce war against ISIS and other terrorist organizations. We have made great sacrifices for our people to enjoy a safe and normal life in our regions. On this basis, we stress that all protests must not become a tool to strike security and stability.”
The statement added: “Events that fuel violence actually pose a threat to society and are of no use to our people. It was noted during Tuesday’s protests in Shaddadi that a number of masked persons as well as a number of armed men were acting and hiding among the protesters, attacking security forces outposts and positions. Our people should be cautious and avoid following the sedition that some parties are trying to provoke. We call on them to be careful about those provocation attempts and express their demands within the legitimate legal right.”
