The action has been launched to demand the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Sheikh Maqsoud Martyrs’ Families Council put up a tent in front of the assembly building for their members on hunger strike.
The tent has been decorated with banners demanding the freedom of Öcalan and photos of the Kurdish People's Leader and the martyrs of freedom.
Before the beginning of the hunger strike, a press statement was read on behalf of the Martyrs’ Families Council by council member Zelîxe Qinbir.
Qinbir said that the entire world was silent against the conspiracies targeting Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan as well as the conspiracies targeting the Democratic Nation project.
The statement underlined the policy of Erdoğan-led fascist Turkish government, which has nothing but disregard for human rights. The statement also condemned the policy of preventing Öcalan from meeting with his family and lawyers.
Qinbir said that international organizations and human rights defenders had a share of responsibility in this situation.
The statement also underlined that the peoples of the region should focus only on resistance and victory. “As Aleppo people, we call upon all international forces and organizations to take a stance on the Turkish state's policies. Together with our YPG-YPJ fighters, we say that we will not allow the dreams of the Turkish state to be realized.”
The hunger strike in Sheikh Maqsoud will continue for 2 days.
