For five days, units of the Internal Security Forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People's and Women's Defense Units (YPG / YPJ) have been searching the refugees and detention Hol Camp in northeast Syria. There are some 62,000 people in the camp: some are seeking protection, but tens of thousands are ISIS jihadists and their families. Due to the poor security situation, ISIS cells have formed in the camp, which regularly commit murder and exercise a reign of terror in parts of the camp. To protect the refugees in the camp, around 5,000 Autonomous Administration’ security forces are now taking action against these clandestine ISIS structures. The camp consists of eight sectors. Much of the camp has now been searched. On Thursday it was the turn of sectors five and six. The number of ISIS members arrested is currently 70. Booby traps and ammunition have also been discovered. A more detailed assessment of the operation is expected in the afternoon.

Local government delegation visits camp

The co-chairman of the Jazira Executive Council, Telat Yunis, and Kenan Berekat, chairman of the Internal Affairs Committee, visited the camp with a delegation on Thursday to find out about the state of the operation. They were received by Ali Hesen, spokesman for the Internal Security Forces, and Nûrî Mehmud, spokesman for the YPG. The delegation highlighted the importance of breaking up ISIS and expressed its support for the security forces.
