SOHR: ISIS uses gold coins to publicize presence in Raqqa
“The Caliphate state still exists and its thoughts won't die,” said ISIS as it published on social media a message about circulation of its currency in Raqqa region.
“The Caliphate state still exists and its thoughts won't die,” said ISIS as it published on social media a message about circulation of its currency in Raqqa region.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the gold coins that have been minted by ISIS have been circulated in Raqqa and are exchanged by dollar in the exchange office and the old shops.
According to sources, women have still been saving the ISIS coins in different sums and using them secretly to buy some needs from certain merchants.
According to the sources of the observatory, a group of smugglers in the desert in north al-Tabaqqa take the coins from ISIS and exchange them with paper currency. Later, the ISIS members distribute currencies to their loyalists in the region.
On the other hand, ISIS has published on social media a message about the circulation of its currency. The message reads, “The Caliphate state still exists and its thoughts won't die.”
It is worth noting that ISIS is still active in al-Resafa desert and other posts in al-Raqqa countryside.
