The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported violent clashes in al-Bab city, which is under the control of the factions of “Euphrates Shield” operations room. Accordingly, the clashes erupted between Turkish-backed factions and unknown gunmen believed to be of ISIS cells following an attack by the factions on the den of the cell, amid confirmed reports of casualties.
SOHR also reported that a member of the cell blew himself up with an explosive belt. On the other hand, the factions brought in further military reinforcement as the face stiff resistance.
On May 24, SOHR sources reported growing rising tensions in al-Bab city and countryside, which are under the control of Turkish forces and the factions of the operations room of “Euphrates Shield”. Clashes erupted between the military police and militiamen on Ihtimaylat neighborhood wounding more than seven civilians. Following the clashes, the military police stormed the area and arrested at least four civilians. While in al-Bab city, the military police launched a security campaign in the youth residential compound and “Olive Branch” area, arresting several civilians.
