SOHR reports Russian airstrikes in de-escalation zone

Regime forces shelled rural Idlib and Hama, as Russian jets renewed airstrikes.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Russian jets resumed shelling on the “Putin-Erdogan” area Monday evening, targeting the towns of Kansafra and Kafr Aweid in Jabal al-Zawiya.

On the other hand, regime forces shelled villages and areas of Jabal al-Zawiya and Sahl Al-Ghab with heavy artillery, igniting fires in Sahl Al-Ghab.

Hours ago, SOHR reported that Russian airstrikes had reached many areas in the “de-escalation zone”. Russian jets targeted areas in al-Zakum, Kafr Aweid, Sofhin, Al-Fatira, Al-Murza, Quqfin, Ain Laroz, Al-Fatatra, Al-Manara in Sahl Al-Ghab and Jabal al-Zawiya in rural Idlib and Hama.

According to the Observatory, Russian airstrikes on Al-Morza killed one person and injured a number of civilians.

SOHR reported earlier that regime forces were able to regain control of the villages of Al-Fatatra and Al-Manara in Sahl Al-Ghab in north-west rural Hama. The recaptures followed the withdrawal of jihadist groups from the two villages in the wake of Russian airstrikes in addition to intensive ground bombardment.

SOHR activists have documented further fatalities as a result of air and ground bombardment and fierce clashes. Accordingly, the death toll of jihadist groups in the “Waharid al-Mu’minin” operations room has risen to 22, including a fighter of Syrian national, while 19 regime soldiers were killed in the jihadists’ attack.
