The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Diplomatic Relations Center issued a written statement and protested Kurdistan Regional Government’s Prime Minister Neçirvan Barzani.

TEV-DEM called on the Hewler government to take a stand against the Turkish invasion and stressed that the PKK is one of the principal national movements in Kurdistan.

The statement said, “The Turkish state has been attacking the gains made by the Kurdish people in Northern Syria-Rojava for years. The Turkish state doesn’t limit its attacks to this region, they also attack other parts of Kurdistan. The Turkish state wants Kurds to exist at a level that suits their whim. They don’t accept any national rights or gains.”

TEV-DEM stressed that national unity is of vital importance in the face of invasion attacks and said, “Against projects and plans targeting our very existence, we are in need of unity.”

PKK IS A NATIONAL MOVEMENT

TEV-DEM pointed out the statements targeting PKK by Barzani, who remained silent in the face of the Turkish invasion and commended Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and said: “This statement on the invasion attacks that calls one of the principal national movements in Kurdistan an ‘invader’ does not serve the Kurdish people or their gains in any way. This speech by Nechirvan Barzani is a message for Turkey to continue with their attacks.”

TEV-DEM said the Turkish state is present in many areas in Southern Kurdistan and that they have over 20 military bases, pointing to the “barbaric attacks by the Turkish state against Southern Kurdistan”.

THE INVASION MUST BE STOPPED

TEV-DEM said, “Barbaric attacks by the Turkish state against Southern Kurdistan are no less than their barbaric attacks in Afrin.”

TEV-DEM called on authorities in Hewlêr to take steps to stop the invasion attacks at once, and concluded the statement with: “Officials and authorities in the region must first know the Turkish state will never be a friend to them. Political and social movements and organizations in Southern Kurdistan must take a clear stand against the invasion at once.”
