TEV-DEM demands investigation commission for Afrin crimes

"The region of Afrin is a forgotten area. We say that the main responsibility for this lies with the UN, which has lost its legitimate role in the region, as well as with Russia and the International Coalition," TEV-DEM said.

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) issued a written statement regarding the inhumane practices carried out by the Turkish state and its affiliated mercenaries in the region of Afrin.

The statement said: "The invading Turkish state and its mercenaries have been continuing inhumane practices in the region of Afrin since 2018. They are violating moral values by subjecting the people of the region to forced displacement."

As a continuation of the Shengal massacre, in Afrin crimes against women have reached the peak, said the statement, adding: “Since the first day of the Turkish state invasion, the aim of the invaders has been to change the demographic structure by continuing to kidnap and murder civilians and especially women and children.”

The statement continued: “The physical torture of the kidnapped women stripped naked in mercenary detention centers is a behavior that does not fit in human dignity and is an insult to women all over the world. Targeting Kurdish women means targeting the will of women leading the human revolution. Such practices prove the defeat of the invading Turkish state and its mercenary allies. "

TEV-DEM added: "The region of Afrin is a forgotten area. We say that the main responsibility for this lies with the UN, which has lost its legitimate role in the region, as well as with Russia and the International Coalition. International Human Rights Organizations are silent about crimes against women. We demand an investigation commission for crimes committed in the region of Afrin.”
