TEV-DEM says the Iraqi Government and the UN are co-responsible for the Turkish attacks on Shengal

TEV-DEM said that the Iraqi Government and the UN were responsible for the Turkish state's attacks on Shengal and called on the international community to act.

YBŞ Commander Seid Hesen and YBŞ fighter Îsa Xweda fell as martyrs in the attack carried out by the invading Turkish state with drones on Shengal on Monday.

Making a written statement on the attack, TEV-DEM said: “The Yazidi community has been resisting the forces that tried to usurp their will for years. From the massacres in the Ottoman period to the ISIS attacks, the Yazidis stood by their will. Now the Turkish state is supporting terrorism with drones."

TEV-DEM added: “A few days ago, the Yazidi community commemorated the heroes Mam Zeki Şengali and the fallen of Koço. Our martyrs are the values of our society. The Turkish state cannot tolerate the Yazidis in Shengal to organize their own democratic organizations. The invading fascist Turkish state attacked with drones again on Tuesday and assassinated Seid Hesen, one of the YBŞ commanders. A NATO member is committing war crimes. Iraqi independence has been violated. These attacks will not break the resistance and struggle of the Yazidis.”

The statement continued: “The Yazidis defeated terrorism by their own means in order to protect their own values. The Iraqi Government should protect the Yazidis instead of allowing the Turkish state to carry out airstrikes. The Iraqi Government is responsible for the attacks on Shengal.

TEV-DEM considers the UN and international law organizations responsible. Despite the agreements they signed, they do not protect minority beliefs and peoples. We call on all international organizations to act to stop the attacks of the Turkish state.”
