The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) leadership in the Euphrates region held on June 5 a meeting with sheikhs and dignitaries in the Sarin region to discuss the recent situation, including the escalated Turkish violations and threats to launch new aggression against the region of North-East Syria.
Prominent sheikhs and dignitaries of the Sarin region attended the meeting, in addition to SDF military commanders and civil society institutions.
Following a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of martyrs, SDF commander Hassan Kocher delivered a speech in which he stressed that the North-East Syrian region is going through a sensitive and dangerous time.
“They want to drag us into a permanent war to keep the region in a state of chaos,” Kocher said.
The SDF commander also stressed the need to be ready to repel the attacks and thwart the plots that are being prepared in secret and public against the region of North-East Syria.
“Moreover, the enemies awaiting our collapse have a history of occupation, invasion and exploitation. Whether Turkey or the global powers, they seek to occupy and exploit our region,” he noted.
Kocher added, “The multi-cultural, religious and sects of North-East Syrian people must stand united and close ranks to protect the achievements that have been gained through massive sacrifices.”
“Our SDF forces are preparing to liberate the occupied areas from Turkish-backed mercenaries.”
Mustafa Bali, member of the SDF Public Relations Office in the Euphrates region, said that people can’t be hostile whether they are Kurds, Arabs or Turks, adding that the SDF has the will and faith in the people of North-East Syria.
“We say publicly that the SDF doesn’t seek war, rather it is the party that has suffered from it most.”
“Our cemeteries, martyrs and wounded comrades are manifesting that we have suffered a lot. However, if war arrives at our door, then we are ready for it,” Bali said.
The meeting concluded with a statement released by the sheikhs of the Sarin region where they condemned Turkey’s violations and hostile practices, stressing the solidarity of all components of North-East Syria with the SDF.
