Thousands of people from the Euphrates Region of North-East Syria marched in Kobanê city on Thursday in protest of the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Turkish state's invasion attacks in various parts of the Kurdistan territory. The march began at the Free Women's Square and ended at the Martyr Egîd Square, with the participants displaying displayed posters of the Kurdish leader and chanting slogans such as "Long live the Imrali Resistance” and “Freedom for Leader Öcalan".

'WE WILL CLAIM OUR RIGHTS OURSELVES'

Speaking at Martyr Egîd Square, Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-Chair Enver Muslim pointed to the “resistance of the people against the enemy.” Stating that they went through hard times, Muslim noted that the only way out of this situation was to act in accordance with the democratic project.

Emphasizing that the enemy is afraid of the democratic project, Muslim said, "As Leader Abdullah Öcalan used this project to find a solution to the Middle East's crises, they developed a conspiracy against him."

Calling on the components to take to the streets and put pressure on the Turkish state in order to lift the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan and ensure his physical freedom, Müslim continued as follows: “With its project to resettle Syrian refugees in the areas it has occupied, the Turkish state is changing the demographic structure in front of the world's eyes. However, we will claim our rights ourselves.”

Speaking after, Şêran District Council Co-chair Letîfe Silêman pointed out that they need to fight more against the attacks directed at them and stated that the sovereign states do not want peace.

After the speeches, the people went to the “Victory Tent” which was set up yesterday as an act of support for the guerrilla resistance against Turkish invasion in South Kurdistan within the framework of the general mobilization campaign of the Revolutionary Youth Movement and the Young Women's Union.
