Seven fighters who fell as martyrs in the Ayn Issa resistance were laid to rest in Kobanê with a ceremony joined by thousands of people.
Fighters Kemal Bozan (Herko), Mihemed Daban (Serxwebûn Kobanê), Ehmed Şêx Nebî (Mezlûm Kobanê), Îbrahîm Mistefa Mislim (Egîd), Fadil Mistefa Terbêş (Dilbar Kobanê), Umer Heyder Îsmaîl (Umer Xorxorî), Mihemed Mistefa Îsa (Qeremox) and Ehmed Yilmaz (Rojhat Çewlik) were sent off on their last journey with a ceremony held at the Martyr Dicle Cemetery in Kobanê.
Kobanê Military Council fighter Esmet Şêx Hesen made a speech at the ceremony, which started with a minute's silence. Expressing his condolences to the Kurdish people and the families of the martyrs, Hesen said: “Our martyrs wrote heroic epics against NATO represented by the Turkish state in March. Their sole purpose was to celebrate the Newroz Festival by the Kurdish people in peace and security. We have a promise to our martyrs. We will not let the Turkish state and its mercenaries go one step further. Because we take our determination to fight from the martyrs who are our leading guides. Our martyrs did not fight for their personal interests.”
Speaking on behalf of the martyrs' families, Şervan Mislim said: “Those who wonder what heroism means, should look at what our martyrs have done. They became a bridge uniting hope to peace. The people of Kobanê will continue to struggle to be worthy of the heavy prices paid by our martyrs.”
