On Wednesday night a group of Turkish-backed jihadists raided the house of Hemud Djasim al-Ayaf in the village of Menkelî near Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) and abducted the man to an unknown location. Al-Ayaf is one of the leading figures of the al-Bu Asaf tribe. There is no information available about his whereabouts. After the abduction, about 200 members of the tribe protested outside a nearby Turkish base.

A few days ago, 15-year-old Yusif Cudi was abducted from the same village.

Serious crimes are systematically committed in the Turkish-occupied territories in northern Syria. Kidnappings of civilians are part of the daily routine. In most cases, a ransom is demanded for their release. In recent years thousands of people have been kidnapped and tortured. Some have been executed, the fate of others is unknown.
