Turkey carried out 412 attacks on Ain Issa and Gire Spi in August

The Girê Spî Military Council announced that Turkey had carried out at least 412 attacks against Ain Issa and Girê Spî during the month of August.

Wîsam El Omer, Girê Spî Military Council Spokesperson, released the balance sheet of Turkish attacks for the month of August at a press conference on Monday.

“Since the Turkish state occupied the Girê Spî Canton and a large part of its rural areas in 2019, it has continued to commit crimes in the rural areas of Ain Issa and Girê Spî. Turkey’s aim is to displace the people in the regions close to the battle fronts and to expand its occupation,” Wîsam El Omer said.

El Omer remarked that the Turkish state has also increased its attacks on the rural areas of Ain Issa district and Girê Spî. He announced the balance sheet of Turkish attacks in August as below:

“In August, 412 attacks with heavy and light weapons and 2 drone strikes were carried out. As a result of the attacks, aside from the properties of citizens, public utilities such as Fatisa and Hîşa drinking water stations were also damaged. Moreover, following the targeting of power lines, the electricity supplied to the region was cut off.”

El Omer added that the Girê Spî Military Council forces responded to Turkey-backed mercenaries who attempted to infiltrate the village of Mişêfre and frustrated their attempt.

Girê Spî Military Council Spokesperson noted that any attempt to occupy further Syrian lands and destroy the security of the region will be responded, insisting that "anyone who cooperates with the enemy will be held accountable."
