“Turkey manipulates the issue of Syrian refugees for own interests"

Eti noted that the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria preserved co-existence and cultural richness.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who continues with his threats to invade North and East Syria, said in a speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly that their works for the establishment of “safe zone” and settlement of two million Syrian refugees in the area continued.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria General Assembly Co-president Ferid Eti spoke to ANHA about Turkey’s plans against the region.

Eti recalled that they have been supporting efforts for the return of Syrian refugees who were displaced because of war, adding; “This is aimed for ensuring protection and stability. Numerous people had to leave their lands because of repression and their ideas. I call for all Syrian refugees to return home.”

Eti remarked that Turkey and some other states manipulated the issue of Syrian refugees for their own interests; “They have long been trying to change the demographic structure of the region, having used various covers before and the ‘safe zone’ now. We have agreed with Turkey and the US on a mechanism for the security of the border strip. This agreement is not for changing the demography of the region but ensuring security and stability.”
