The invading Turkish state is continuing its Turkification policies through various methods such as imposition of Turkish language and currency since it has occupied parts of Syria, especially Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî. Turkification in Syria is one of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's attempts to revive the Ottoman Empire.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the administration of Azaz University, affiliated to the "interim government", opened new departments such as the faculty of communication and Turkish language for the new academic year.
According to international laws and the United Nations (UN) convention, the Turkish state does not have power of sanction in these regions since the regions of Syria in question are under occupation.
