Dozens of citizens from Afrin and members of Til Rifet District Council staged a demonstration and made a statement in the main square of Shehba Canton regarding the already announced Turkish military operation to be launched against North-East Syria for further invasions.

Council members Mihemed Hisên and Emina Îsa read out the statement in Kurdish and Arabic.

The statement emphasized that the Turkish state has increased its threats to intervene in Syria by violating all international laws and agreements in order to overcome its internal disorders and the looming elections in the country.

TURKEY TARGETS KURDISH ACHIEVEMENTS

The statement pointed out that the invading Turkish state has taken advantage of every international crisis and opportunity to implement its expansionist and fascist project in northern Syria. “Turkey’s goal is to displace the citizens of the region through military attacks, to resettle Syrian refugees living in Turkey in their place and to change the demographic structure of Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê,” said the statement said and noted that the Turkish state wanted to crush the legitimate rights and achievements of the Kurdish people in order to realize its invasion plans.

The statement also condemned the silence of the guarantor countries that have paved the way for Turkish invasion plans and the massacres carried out by the invading Turkish state against the people of the region.

The statement concluded that the people of the region would fulfil their responsibilities concerning security and stability so that they could lead a free and dignified life.
