Turkish border guards torture four young men from Heseke

Turkish Border Guard Forces have killed five people, including two children, since the beginning of 2022 in different Syrian areas bordering Turkey and wounded another 13, including three children.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that four young men were beaten brutally by the Turkish Border Guard Forces (Gendarmerie) while they were attempting to escape to Turkey, from Al-Derbasiyah city countryside in north Al-Hasakah province.

According to SOHR sources, the young men were severely tortured after being arrested by the border forces. “They were beaten with sharp tools in different parts of their bodies and one of the Turkish forces put an iron skewer in the ears of one of the arrested people, which caused internal bleeding. The border guards later threw them behind a cement wall separating the Turkish and Syrian borders in the countryside of Al-Derbasah city and they were transported to one of Al-Hasakah hospitals, one of whom was in serious condition,” SOHR said.

According to SOHR sources, nearly 159 people attempt to enter Turkish land every day via smuggling routes; some succeed and some fail and are tortured severely by the Turkish Border Guard Forces “Jandarma” before being thrown into Syrian land.
