Turkish forces kill a civilian, injure another at Syrian border

Turkish border guard forces killed one and injured another in Darkush countryside.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rigths (SOHR) reported that a civilian was killed and another was injured by Turkish border guard forces (Jandarma) last night.

Accordingly, the two civilians were targeted by Turkish forces while fishing on the banks of al-Asi River in ​​al-Hafriyah village, north of Darkush, near the border strip with Iskenderun region.

SOHR said that the two men were taken to al-Rahma Hospital in Darkush, where HTS security forces intervened to investigate the crime, while a media activist and his brother were arrested after an verbal argument with the security forces who, in turn, shot fire in the hospital.

On April 28, SOHR activists in Jisr al-Shughur documented the death of an old man from al-Zouf village on the Syria border with Iskenderun region, as he was shot by the Turkish “Jandarma”, while he was working in his land in the village.

Meanwhile, the residents of al-Zouf village staged a vigil yesterday evening, denouncing the death of the old man and the daily violations by the Turkish Jandarma against the residents of the border areas.

According to Syrian Observatory statistics, the number of Syrian civilians who have been killed by the Turkish Jandarma since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, has risen to 474. These include 86 children under the age of eighteen and 45 females over the age of eighteen.
