'Turkish orientations towards reconciliation with Damascus will be against the people's aspirations'

The Presidential Council of the MSD assesses the path of the political resolution and the implications of international changes.

The Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD or SDC) held a meeting to assess the path of the Syrian crisis during the changes, regional and international conflicts that the world is experiencing and their direct and indirect repercussions on the Syrian file and the path of political settlement.

According to the MSD statement, the meeting was attended by co-chairs of the MSD, the presidency of the MSD Executive Board, as well as representatives of political parties and powers and civil and community activists. The results of the meetings held over the past weeks and their impact on the Syrian people and their cause were discussed.

After a comprehensive review of the issues and files that concern world public opinion, whether in the region, the Middle East or the world, the meeting discussed Turkish attacks through direct shelling or by drones and targeting areas populated by civilians, such as markets and areas crowded with citizens.

The meeting pointed out that Turkish attacks and threats against the regions of northern Syria are the main reason for obstructing the path of political settlement and ending the tragedy of the Syrian people, in addition to Turkey’s attempts to obstruct anti-terrorist operations and protect ISIS prisons and the al-Hol camp, which all people in the world agree is dangerous for regional and international security.

The political components of the MSD evaluated the orientations of Turkish policy towards “reconciliation” with the authorities in Damascus, and remarked that these orientations will serve the interests of the Turkish government and the authorities in Damascus and will be against the aspirations of the Syrian people with its various components, who have been fighting for more than eleven years for change, democratic transition and the liberation of Syrian territory that were invaded by occupiers.

In parallel, the meeting discussed the path of a political resolution, which is subject to different balances after crises and circumstances in the world. The MSD and its political components reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the home front and continuing communication with the countries active regarding the Syrian file and building strategic relations with the Arab countries.

The meeting reviewed the efforts of the Syrian Democratic Council and its representatives abroad and the activities of its bureaus at home in order to reach a comprehensive resolution to the Syrian crisis by maintaining the policy of openness to all national powers seeking a real resolution to the crisis.

On the organizational side, the meeting bureau reviewed the applications of Syrian parties, powers and figures to join the council, in addition to evaluating the activities of the council’s bureaus and their education programs during the past period.
