The Afrin Human Rights Organization reported that the Turkish occupation forces have kidnapped at least 25 civilians and chopped down around 900 olive trees in the Afrin canton since the beginning of the year.
According to a report by ANHA news outlet, spokesperson of the Afrin Human Rights Organization, İbrahim Şêxo shared information about the crimes committed by the Turkish state in the northern Syrian canton since the beginning of the year.
Şêxo revealed that at least 25 civilians have been kidnapped from the villages and districts of Afrin. Moreover, around 900 olive trees were chopped down and two historical sites were damaged.
Backed by the Turkish intelligence service (MIT), the mercenary group Sultan Süleyman Shah, also known as Amashat, continues to commit crimes in the region, said Şêxo and unveiled that ethnic cleansing continues in Afrin amid the silence of international forces.
THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS ABDUCTED IN FOUR YEARS
Turkey has established a regime of terror and corruption in all the regions it has occupied, particularly in Afrin, which has been invaded since March 2018. Crimes such as kidnapping, execution, torture, looting, forced migration have become rampant in the city, which has become a hotbed for war crimes.
According to human rights defenders, the Turkish army and allied jihadist groups have killed more than 700 civilians and kidnapped at least 8,500 civilians in Afrin in the last 4 years. The whereabouts of nearly half of the abducted remain unknown. At least 70 women are reported to have been raped in the same period, and more than 300 thousand people from Afrin have been forcibly displaced from their houses and lands since 2018.
